Joining the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept at the New York Auto Show is a second prototype version of Suzuki’s sedan model called the Kizashi Apex Concept. While the EcoCharge hybrid is all about improving fuel economy, the Apex version concentrates purely on the performance aspect of the build while also showcasing the link between Suzuki's automotive division and its championship-winning motorcycles.

The 2011 Suzuki Equator features an interior that reviewers find more practical than comfortable. The extended cab seats four while the crew cab seats five.

For 2011, the Suzuki Equator's V6 engine is no longer offered with the rear-wheel-drive extended cab, the RMZ-4 Sport trim has been discontinued and the tilt steering wheel is no longer available for the base trim level.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2011 Suzuki Equator is a midsize pickup truck that is available in extended- and crew-cab body styles. Extended cabs are available in Comfort, Premium and Sport trims, and all come with a 6-foot bed. Crew cabs are available in Sport and RMZ-4 trims. The Sport comes with either a 5-foot or 6-foot bed, while the RMZ-4 has the short bed only. Rear-wheel drive is standard for the Comfort and Premium trim in the extended cab, while the Sport extended cab and crew cab can be had with either rear or four-wheel drive. Finally, the RMZ-4 crew cab with its short bed is only available with four-wheel drive.

The Premium adds 16-inch alloy wheels, a sliding rear window, a tilt steering wheel, keyless entry, full power accessories and upgraded cloth upholstery. A removable Garmin navigation system and a bed extender are optional for the RMZ-4 crew cab.

Properly equipped, the Equator can tow up to 6,300 pounds, while payload maxes out at 1,471 pounds. Fuel economy estimates range from 19 mpg city/23 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined for the rear-drive extended cab with the inline-4 engine to 14/19/16 mpg for the 4WD crew cab with its V6.

Safety
Antilock disc brakes, front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags are standard on all trims. Traction and stability control are standard on Sport and V6 models. Hill-hold and descent control is standard on the four-cylinder Sport and V6-powered long bed and RMZ-4 models.
The extended cab garnered four stars for driver protection in frontal impacts and five stars for frontal-impact passenger protection and driver protection in side impacts. In Edmunds brake testing, a crew cab Equator Sport model came to a stop from 60 mph in 122 feet. In automotive terms, the 2011 Suzuki Kizashi is much like a cult classic. The 2011 Suzuki Kizashi is a midsize sedan available in S, SE, Sport GTS and Sport SLS trim levels.

Estimated fuel economy is 21 mpg city/31 mpg highway and 25 mpg in combined driving on the S model with the manual transmission, while the CVT model is rated at 23/31/26 mpg. The other trims achieve 20/29/24 mpg with the six-speed manual, 23/30/26 mpg with front-wheel drive and CVT and 22/29/25 mpg with AWD and the CVT.

Standard safety features on all 2011 Suzuki Kizashis include antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front and rear side airbags and side curtain airbags. In Edmunds brake testing, the Kizashi GTS with 18-inch wheels came to a stop in an excellent 114 feet.

For drivers looking for a little more excitement out of a family sedan, the 2011 Suzuki Kizashi should prove satisfying.

Some other developments are noteworthy: The Suzuki Kizashi took third place in a Cars.com comparison test among eight leading family sedans; buyers have been raving about the 2010 in Cars.com's consumer reviews; and this time I got to test a 2011 version I missed last time: a manual, front-wheel-drive version of the Sport SLS trim level. That car is basically the opposite personality of the 2010 Kizashi GTS automatic with all-wheel drive.

The Kizashi actually turns heads, and that's rare in the midsize sedan class. Both in our comparison test and in casual test drives of different Kizashi models, observers have described the quality as above average. Thankfully, in the Kizashi Sport SLS, the leather was as good for its type as the fabric was in the GTS.

In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests, the Kizashi achieved the top score of Good in frontal, side and rear impacts, and was rated Acceptable for roof strength. In this crowded class, 11 models do the Kizashi one better, earning a Good rating for roof strength, which predicts rollover protection.

For what it is, the Kizashi is priced reasonably well, though Suzuki might be wise to lower the price as an incentive for buyers. If all a car had to do to succeed in the market was be a good car, the Kizashi would be in excellent shape.

For 2011, there are slightly sportier versions called (ingeniously) the Sport GTS and more sybaritic Sport SLS, which supplant the current GTS and SLS models. Inside, there’s a new metallic-accented steering wheel covered in perforated leather.

In a move to target buyers looking for a more individual look for their car, Suzuki has developed a new range of factory accessories for its 2011 Swift supermini in Germany. The Maruti Suzuki SX4 diesel sedan has finally been launched in India, and the car will be priced between Rs 7.74-8.62 lakh Delhi.

According to Maruti, the diesel SX4 has a more refined diesel engine which shall also give decent fuel economy compared to other diesel cars in the country. Suzuki is quite happy to launch this vehicle in India, as the sales of diesel cars in India is quite strong.

The engine is also fitted with a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) which helps the Suzuki SX4 reduce the turbo lag and thereby improve its efficiency and performance. The SX4 will be released in three variants, VDi, ZDi and ZDi with leather upholstery. While the VDi comes with a price tag of Rs 7.74 lakh, the ZDi versions start with a price tag of Rs 8.62 lakh.

More than 32,000 Suzuki Grand Vitara and SX4 vehicles are being recalled in the United States over an improperly manufactured component of the tension adjuster pulley that could cause the drive belt to either slip or come off and lead to engine overheating or stalling.

Suzuki said the recall concerns the 2009-2010 model year Grand Vitara SUVs equipped with 4-cylinder engines; 2011MY Grand Vitara vehicles produced prior to October 17, 2010; 2010MY SX4s and 2011MY SX4s manufactured before October 14, 2010.

With the Super Bowl XLV rumored to reach out to a record number of viewers this year, it’s no surprise that automakers are queuing up to take a shot at convincing potential customers to buy their products.

Suzuki’s focus will be on the Kizashi sedan, featured in a TV spot called “Wicked Weather”. The clip shows the all-wheel drive version as it’s being chased by a pack of evil, almost-zombie-like snowmen. Suzuki has announced the arrival of its new home market MR Wagon kei car, which has been fully redesigned for the first time in five years featuring a fresh styling and a brand new 660cc three-cylinder petrol engine matched to a continuously variable transmission.

Suzuki has just launched an all-wheel drive version of the popular 2011 Suzuki Swift in Germany, called the Suzuki Swift 4×4.
The Suzuki Swift 4×4 is only available in 1.2-litre petrol guise which is matched to a five-speed manual gearbox. It’s a great offering by Suzuki for the European markets as slippery snow conditions are fairly regular.

From the exterior the all-wheel drive version only differs from the front-wheel drive in having a 4x4 badge. The Swift 4x4 is available in the "club" version with an air conditioning system and a CD-Player.

In addition the Suzuki comes with four electric windows, a height-adjustable driver seat and central locking - all for the price of 14,490 euros ($18,694).

Suzuki is broadening its European lineup with the launch of all-wheel drive variants of its newly introduced 2011 Swift supermini and Kizashi sedan. Starting with the Swift, the 4x4 model is offered exclusively with a 94-horsepower 1.2-liter gasoline engine linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The company said it returns a fuel economy of 6.7 lt/100km urban, 4.9 lt/100km highway and 5.5 lt/100km combined, with CO2 emissions of 129g/km.

Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp. on Friday unveiled its new domestic market Solio, a tall mini wagon that will go on sale in the country in early January. The Solio measures 3,710mm in length and will be available exclusively with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine producing 91HP, linked to a CVT and either front- or optionally, four-wheel drive. The Japanese automaker said it targets domestic yearly sales of around 12,000 units.
